Recently, I've become completely enthralled with Middle Eastern cooking and am enjoying being swept up in the rhapsodic flavours of spice mixes like ras-el-hanout and rediscovering the juicy sweetness of plump Medjool dates and figs. So when a PR rep got in touch to ask if I'd be interested in reviewing Amira Superior Aromatic Rice by recreating a Persian rice recipe, I leapt at the chance!

The weekend of my birthday, I was invited to visit Clevedon Hall, a stunning manor house in North Somerset. The weekend promised to be a wonderful experience--spending some time in a historic property and trialing food by the renowned chef Alan Jones. I'll be honest, while I was excited about the opportunity to review such a beautiful hotel, wedding venue and conference facility, I was most ecstatic about trying Chef Alan's food.

The idea for this smoothie came when I was reminiscing about lime sherbet--you know that classic punch served at every wedding in America? That's what this tastes like, but without the unhealthy sherbet! It's also a great way to use up some leftover fruits before they go off.
