How to Autofill Pinterest Pin Descriptions

Autofilling the description of Pinterest pins from your site is one way to ensure that pinners get valuable information about what they will find on your blog.

Of course, pinners can always go back and change this description, but in my experience, if a pin's description is informative enough to give pinners a sense of what to expect on the page, they don't tend to edit the description.

If you autofill the description of pins from your site, you increase the likeliness that the keywords you have chosen will stay attached to your content; thereby boosting your SEO.

In this tutorial, I'll show you two quick methods for autofilling the description of your Pinterest, including how to do it via simple HTML coding.

10 Minute Tom Yum Fish Ball Noodle Soup. This delicious Asian soup is a perfect starter or easily bulk it up for a filling main.

Yield 2 to 4 servings

10 Minute Tom Yum Fish Ball Noodle Soup

I've always been a sucker for Asian food and this Tom Yum Fish Ball Noodle Soup ticks all my boxes of good Asian food: it's quick, it's healthy, it's sweet, it's sour, it has noodles. And if you're not already in love with the idea of this soup, let me tell you this: it's ready in 10 minutes!

Ten minutes and it's actually good for you? Oh, yes. We stumbled upon these fish balls by accident. We were in our local Chinese supermarket on the weekend of Chinese New Year, so the staff were out in force. They were flogging this authentic ceramic rice bowl made by Chinese orphans along the banks of the Yellow River and that authentic Chinese wok that will make all your stir fry dishes taste like they were made by in Asia. And then there was this guy, handing out fish balls, halved and speared onto cocktail sticks. We tried these Tom Yum flavored fish balls and then some salmon fish balls and within seconds, I found myself reaching into the chest freezer and plucking up a bag each to toss into the shopping trolley.

Gluten FreeMardi Gras King Cake Fruit & Honey Pancakes

Monday, March 3, 2014

These American-style festive Mardi Gras King Cake pancakes are a perfect start to Shrove Tuesday!
Mardi Gras King Cake Fruit & Honey Pancakes. I love how vibrant & festive these are! They're dead easy to make, too!

Yield 8 to 12 pancakes

Mardi Gras King Cake Fruit & Honey Pancakes

Tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday, or as it is affectionately known to gourmands the world over, Pancake Day! These Mardi Gras Fruit & Honey Pancakes were inspired by the indulgent and ornately decorated King Cake, which is often eaten during Mardi Gras.

When I was approached by the Sainsbury's Live Well for Less team and asked to create pancakes in honor of tomorrow's festivities, there was no way I could refuse! Growing up in the American South, pancakes were important and usually appeared on the kitchen table most weekends as a stack of perfectly fluffy and still slightly doughy in the center pancakes slathered in melted butter and blanketed in syrup squeezed from the rotund tummy of a Mrs Butterworth's container. These pancakes are completely different.

They are the thick American-style ones. To me that means they are billowy clouds of breakfast bliss. To my husband that means they are stodgy and too thick. But we did agree that they were fun, festive and delicious! That's the most important bit!

A very big thank you to my fab friends at Sainsbury's who partnered with me on this post!

Easy Hazelnut Pesto perfect for tossing fresh pasta in or spreading on toast and topping with tomatoes

Yield 1 cup

This hazelnut pesto really is easy to make! It only calls for a handful of ingredients and instead of grinding away all day at it with a mortar and pestle, I just throw everything in a food processor and get on with the rest of the meal.

Basic but Effective Food Photography Tips (No Technical Jargon!)

Written by: on
This former news photographer shares 10 really good food photography tips for food bloggers without any technical jargon

One of the things I get asked the most often is for food photography tips. All food bloggers seem obsessed (and rightly so) with the ability to take mouthwatering photos of their food.

We do eat with our eyes, after all. And thanks to sites like Pinterest and G+, most people see our food photos before they have a clue about what's in them or how to make them. Having eye-catching, quality photos is extremely important.

There are loads of food photography blog posts on the web, but about 99% of them talk about technical crap: f numbers, shutter speed, white balance, back lighting, diffusing etc. Of course, that's all good for the pros and semi-pros, but for most food bloggers, those types of tutorials don't mean much.

So this tutorial isn't going to be like that. Forget the f numbers/ aperture and shutter speed. I'm going to show you a few very simple, basic tips that no one else is telling you about. We're going to go back to the basics and improve our food photography the easy way. Then, when you have time, you can go back and learn about the f numbers and shutter speed and spend ages getting to grips with the technical stuff.

Gluten Free Honeyed Thyme Pork Chops

Monday, February 24, 2014

Sweet and tangy, these honeyed thyme pork chops are perfect for a spring alfresco dinner!
Honeyed Thyme Pork Chops made with orange juice, mustard and fresh thyme
Yield 2 servings

Honeyed Thyme Pork Chops

These honeyed thyme pork chops are perfect for the lovely spring weather we'll soon be enjoying! They'll be best eaten outside with a chilled glass of white wine, but, in case winter sticks around longer than any of us want, you could eat them on the sofa, watching your favorite TV show. While snow falls. We did.

What I love about them is the amazing flavor they have. A lot of ingredients go into what's a really simple dish starting with fresh orange juice and ending with super fancy French mustard with oranges and chestnuts. (Although, in the absence of such mustard, you could just use your normal dijon.) But, these pork chops are tender and the earthy taste of thyme is delicious with the honey. And there's just a little bit of smoked paprika. Especially important if you make these in the grill/broiler on your oven and not outside.

I've not shown it in the photos, but I served these pork chops with fluffy rice and steamed, crunchy green beans. I like my green beans crunchy and fresh-tasting. They work well with the pork. No matter what you serve with them, the pork cooks up in less than 20 minutes and if you let them marinate the night before, they'll be unbelievably tender.
